A Twist On Oprah’s “Million Dollar Deviled Eggs”

Jump to Recipe Print Recipe

There is not a ton of information on weather or not Oprah actually made this recipe herself. However, it is marketed as Oprah’s Deviled eggs across the internet. The basic twist that makes these million dollar deviled eggs special is the addition of horseradish. I whole heartedly appreciate this addition! I love a little horseradish zest!

The Basics

I’m so happy that egg prices have been going down, making these super inexpensive and a great last-minute dish for a potluck. Overall, deviled eggs have to be one of the all time best potluck dishes. You can make them last minute, and I almost always have eggs in my fridge. If I don’t know what to make, it will likely be deviled eggs!

To start, you’ll need to hard-boil a dozen eggs. I prefer to use a steamer and steam them for about 14 minutes, then put them in an ice bath. You can get a full tutorial on how to do that here. Slice the eggs in half and put all the yolks into a bowl. I like to use my 4 cup Pyrex measuring cup for this because it’s the perfect size. To the egg yolks, add about three tablespoons of mayonnaise (or more for a creamier texture), two tablespoons of mustard (yellow or Dijon), a tablespoon of sweet pickle relish (or chopped sweet pickles), salt and pepper to taste, and a dash of horseradish (optional). If you like a bit of spice, you can add Tabasco sauce and a dash of lemon juice, as Oprah’s original recipe suggests.

To fill the eggs, use a small Ziploc bag with a hole cut in one corner, or simply use your finger to spoon in the filling. Top with parsley and paprika (if you like). I didn’t use paprika because I was sharing these with my mom and she has an allergy to cayenne pepper. Surprisingly, can sometimes be in the spice mix. These deviled eggs are one of the best potluck dishes and were a hit with my family. We especially loved the unique flavor that the horseradish added.

Worth A Million Dollars!

I feel like if Oprah actually made these for you, they’d basically be worth their weight in gold. That’s why I might call them Million dollar deviled eggs! For more celebrity potluck recipes check out the Jennifer Aniston Salad and Betty White’s Chicken Wings. Both recipes can be found here!
