If you’re looking for the ultimate no-cook summer dish, this Burrata Caprese Salad is it. Creamy burrata cheese, juicy heirloom tomatoes, and fresh basil come together in a gorgeous, flavor-packed twist on a classic Caprese Salad with Burrata.

This dish feels more like an art project than a recipe—it’s beautiful, satisfying, and best of all: no stove required. Perfect for hot days when turning on the oven is just not an option.

Why You’ll Love This Burrata Caprese

  • No cooking required – Just slice, assemble, and serve.
  • Fresh and seasonal – Uses the best of summer produce.
  • Beautiful presentation – Vibrant heirloom tomatoes and torn burrata make it a showstopper.
  • Totally customizable – Make it your own with different greens or tomato varieties.

Ingredients for Caprese Burrata Salad

Here’s what I used to make this delicious burrata cheese Caprese salad:

  • 3 heirloom tomatoes – I chose all red, dark red, and yellow for a colorful base.
  • Heirloom cherry tomatoes – Sliced in half; I used a mix of yellow, orange, and red.
  • Red and green leaf lettuce – A spring mix works great, or try peppery arugula for extra bite.
  • 2 fresh burrata balls – Usually one container. Tear gently by hand to layer across the salad.
  • Fresh basil – Use a big handful and don’t be shy—it’s essential to that classic caprese flavor.
  • Single-source extra virgin olive oil – The better the oil, the better the flavor.
  • Maldon sea salt and fresh cracked black pepper – For seasoning.
  • Balsamic reduction – Store-bought is perfect and makes this easy.
  • Fresh bread for serving – A Parisian baguette or sourdough pairs beautifully.

How to Make Burrata Caprese Salad

  1. Layer your lettuce on a large platter as the base.
  2. Slice the heirloom tomatoes and lay them over the greens.
  3. Scatter the halved cherry tomatoes throughout for pops of color.
  4. Tear open the burrata and place it gently on top. I like to pull it into chunks and tuck pieces around the tomatoes.
  5. Add fresh basil leaves—either whole or roughly torn.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil, a touch of balsamic reduction, and sprinkle generously with sea salt and cracked pepper.
  7. Serve with fresh bread and dig in!

Tips for the Best Caprese Burrata

  • Use room-temperature burrata for maximum creaminess.
  • Don’t skip the salt! Tomatoes love salt—it brings out their natural sweetness.
  • Use what you have – Any combination of tomatoes or greens will work. This is a no-stress salad.

What is Burrata Caprese?

Caprese Burrata is a modern take on the traditional Italian Caprese salad, which usually features mozzarella, tomatoes, and basil. This version swaps mozzarella for creamy burrata cheese, making it richer and even more indulgent.

Whether you call it burrata caprese, caprese salad with burrata, or burrata cheese caprese salad, it’s all about simple ingredients and stunning summer flavor.

Serve It With…

This salad is satisfying on its own, but even better with fresh bread to soak up the olive oil and burrata. Try it with:

  • A warm Parisian baguette
  • Rustic sourdough
  • Grilled ciabatta

It’s also great alongside grilled chicken or as a starter at any summer gathering.

Final Thoughts

This Burrata Caprese Salad is proof that the best summer meals are the simplest. With peak-season tomatoes, creamy burrata, and fresh basil, it’s fresh, colorful, and guaranteed to impress. Whether you’re making lunch for yourself or bringing a dish to share—this is your go-to.
