Snowman Mozzarella Skewers (Easy Christmas Caprese Appetizer)

Filed Under: Christmas, Top 10 Christmas Appetizers December 3, 2025

snowman mozzarella skewers on a marble platter.

If you’re looking for the cutest, easiest, no-cook holiday appetizer, these snowman mozzarella skewers are about to become your new Christmas go-to. They take just a few minutes to assemble, use simple ingredients you probably already have on hand, and they’re the perfect addition to Christmas charcuterie cups, holiday cheese boards, or any festive party spread.

As a mom who makes a lot of holiday food, I love recipes that are fun, budget-friendly, and adorable—and these little skewered snowmen check every box!

Christmas skewers for salami Christmas Trees

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 1 package of ciliegine (clingine) fresh mozzarella – usually about 28 balls
  • 6–7 cherry tomatoes
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Holiday skewers (I like using snowman-themed skewers)
  • Optional:
    • Food-safe black marker for eyes, mouth, and buttons
    • Small slivers of orange bell pepper, carrot, or orange peel for the snowman noses

How to Make Snowman Mozzarella Skewers

This recipe makes about 14 snowmen, depending on how many mozzarella balls come in your package.

Step 1: Prep your cherry tomatoes

Slice 6–7 cherry tomatoes in half. These will be the adorable little “hats,” and one tomato makes two hats.

Step 2: Start building your snowman

Take your festive holiday skewer and place a cherry tomato half flat-side down so it looks like a tiny hat.

Step 3: Add the snowman head

Skewer one mozzarella ball right underneath the tomato hat.

Step 4: Add the scarf

Take one or two fresh basil leaves and gently fold them as needed, then slide them onto the skewer. This makes the cutest little basil scarf.

Step 5: Add the body

Finish by skewering one more mozzarella ball as the snowman’s body.

Step 6: Add details (optional but SO cute!)

Use a food-safe black marker to draw two eyes, a smile, and three little buttons down the front.
Then press in a tiny sliver of orange pepper, carrot, or orange peel for the nose—use whatever you already have!

Serving Ideas

These adorable Christmas snowman skewers are so versatile. You can:

charcuterie Christmas cups with min snow men, candy canes, salami Christmas Trees, and goat cheese balls
  • Add them to Christmas charcuterie cups: For charcuterie cups, place a salami tree in the cup with skewers of mozzarella ball snow men, goat cheese balls, crackers, a candy cane, and pistachios, and watch how quickly they disappear. These little cups make entertaining easy and elegant!
christmas charcuterie board with a christmas tree brie, raspberries, strawberries, cheddar cheese blocks, christmas tree shaped crackers, peppermint bark, chocolate santas, blackberries and more!
  • Scatter them on a holiday cheese board: You can use inspiration from this board here and add in the festive snow men to make it even better!
