Viral Christmas Tree Spinach Dip Appetizer To Surprise Your Friends

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe·Leave a Review

Looking for a fun and festive holiday appetizer that’s sure to impress your guests? This Christmas Tree Spinach Dip combines two holiday favorites: savory spinach dip and flaky pizza dough. With a beautifully shaped tree that’s both delicious and Instagram-worthy, this dip is perfect for family gatherings, holiday parties, or any time you want to add a little cheer to your table.

The Secret to a Perfect Christmas Tree Spinach Dip

This recipe calls for Pillsbury pizza dough, which gives the tree its flaky, golden exterior. While homemade dough is an option, the convenience of store-bought pizza dough ensures a hassle-free and reliable result every time. I love how easy it is to create a fun holiday shape without spending hours in the kitchen.

The spinach dip can be store-bought for simplicity, but feel free to use your favorite homemade spinach dip recipe if you prefer. The combination of warm, cheesy pizza dough and creamy spinach dip is undeniably delicious!

Why You’ll Love Christmas Tree Spinach Dip

  • It’s Fun to Make: Get the kids involved and watch them marvel at the tree shape.
  • Delicious Flavor: The buttery, cheesy topping makes the tree irresistible, while the spinach dip inside stays creamy and flavorful.
  • Perfect for Holiday Parties: The tree shape is festive and fun, making it a standout appetizer on any holiday spread.

Serving Tips For Your Christmas Tree Spinach Dip

Serve your Christmas tree spinach dip with extra spinach dip on the side for dipping, or pair it with crunchy vegetables, chips, or crackers. The golden, crispy dough twists are perfect for pulling off and enjoying with every dip-filled bite.

Pro Tip for Success

Make sure to use Pillsbury pizza dough for the best results! It’s the key to achieving that perfectly golden and flaky tree shape. If you’re short on time, store-bought spinach dip is a great shortcut, but feel free to customize it with your own homemade version if you prefer.

This Christmas Tree Spinach Dip is not only a festive and fun dish but also one your family and friends will request year after year. It’s easy to make, visually stunning, and packed with delicious flavor that everyone will love!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans Pillsbury pizza dough (or 1 for a smaller tree)
  • 1 container store-bought spinach dip (such as Cedars brand)

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tree Shape:

    • Preheat oven to 400°F.
    • Roll out pizza dough and cut it into a large triangle shape for the tree. If using just one can of dough, cut additional triangles from the other side of the dough to form the tree’s top.
  2. Fill with Spinach Dip:

    • Spread store-bought spinach dip generously over the pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Cover with More Dough:

    • Use the second pizza dough (or leftover pieces from the first can) to cover the spinach dip. Shape it into a large triangle and use a pizza cutter to trim away excess dough, leaving a trunk in the middle.
  4. Cut and Twist the Tree:

    • Slice the sides of the tree to create strips from the trunk to the top, but don’t cut all the way through. Twist each strip into a spiral shape, making sure the trunk remains intact.
  5. Apply Egg Wash:

    • Brush the tree with a beaten egg wash to ensure it turns golden brown when baked.
  6. Bake:

    • Place the tree on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the dough is golden and puffed up.
  7. Add Toppings:

    • Once out of the oven, brush the tree with melted butter. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning to add flavor and shine.
  8. Serve:

    • Transfer the tree to a cutting board and serve with additional spinach dip for dipping.

Notes

Tips & Variations

  • Make it Your Own: Feel free to make your own spinach dip if you prefer homemade.
  • Perfect Presentation: Use parchment paper for easy removal from the baking sheet.
  • Add More Flavors: Experiment with adding bacon bits, cheese, or fresh herbs to the spinach dip for extra flavor.
