Why Unstuffed Peppers?

Traditional stuffed peppers are a beloved classic, but they can be time-consuming to prepare. The Unstuffed Pepper Skillet takes the same fantastic flavors and simplifies the process. No need to hollow out peppers or fuss with stuffing; everything cooks in a single pan. It’s a win-win for busy households and those watching their wallets.

The Recipe: Unstuffed Pepper Skillet

Ingredients:

  • 1 onion, diced (or 1 tbsp onion powder)
  • 1 lb sweet Italian sausage
  • 2 red bell peppers, diced (or roasted red peppers)
  • 1 can condensed tomato soup
  • 2 cups cooked rice (any type)
  • Shredded cheese (mozzarella, provolone, or cheddar)
  • Olive oil (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sweet Italian sausage to the skillet. Break it into small pieces and cook until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat if desired.
  2. Stir in the diced red bell peppers and onions. Cook until the peppers and onions are tender and slightly softened, about 10 minutes.
  3. Pour in the condensed tomato soup and mix well with the sausage and peppers. The soup provides plenty of flavor, so additional spices aren’t necessary.
  4. Add the cooked rice to the skillet. Stir to combine all the ingredients and ensure the rice is warmed through.
  5. Top the skillet with shredded cheese. You can use as much or as little cheese as you like. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt and become gooey.
  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve your delicious Unstuffed Pepper Skillet hot and enjoy!

Why You’ll Love It:

This Unstuffed Pepper Skillet is more than just a meal; it’s a practical and budget-friendly solution. You’ll appreciate the simplicity of using pantry staples like canned tomato soup and a can of sweet Italian sausage. These items, along with a few fresh ingredients, combine to create a satisfying dinner that won’t break the bank.
