The Easiest Dinner – Poor Mama Cheeseburgers

I think these were originally called Poor Man Cheeseburgers but my notes app kept changing the name to Poor Mama Cheeseburgers so that’s what we are going with. These were a huge hit with the kids and so easy to make! No flipping burgers or looking for the prefect doneness! These are easy peasy!

Description

Cook up some ground beef and place it on white bread in a 9×13 and you basically get a casserole dish of cheeseburgers fit for a happy family!


Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon burger seasoning (whatever you like to use)
  • 10 slices of white bread
  • 3 tablespoons room temperature butter
  • 10 slices American cheese
  • Ketchup, mayo, and mustard (to your liking)
  • 1/2 an onion minced (or onion powder, or reconstituted dried onion)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Brown ground beef in a frying pan. Drain fat and add your favorite burger seasoning.
  3. Butter 5 slices of bread and place them butter side down in a 9×13 casserole dish (the 5th can squeeze in on the side).
  4. Top the bread with one slice of American cheese each.
  5. Top the cheese with the cooked ground beef.
  6. Top the ground beef with the minced onion and your favorite burger toppings (mayo, mustard, ketchup – whatever you like).
  7. Top with another slice of American cheese each.
  8. Butter 5 more slices of white bread and place them on the meat, butter side up.
  9. Bake for 18 minutes. Then broil for 3 minutes to really crisp them up.
  10. Enjoy!
