Ingredients
Scale
- 1 stick (1/2 cup) butter
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 containers of cinnamon rolls (preferably the rolled ones with icing included)
Instructions
- Melt the stick of butter in a small saucepan.
- Stir in the sugar and heat gently until the sugar dissolves into the butter. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy whipping cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.
- Pour in the melted butter and sugar mixture, whisking until smooth.
- Open the cinnamon roll containers and cut each roll into four pieces. (Using rolled cinnamon rolls adds extra layers of cinnamon goodness, giving a fun monkey-bread vibe!)
- Add the cinnamon roll pieces to the custard mixture, stirring gently to coat all the pieces in the creamy, spiced mixture.
- Pour the mixture into a greased 13×9-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35–40 minutes, or until the casserole is golden and set in the middle.
- While still warm, spread the included icing from the cinnamon rolls over the top of the casserole.
