Welcome to this week’s fresh, flavorful, budget conscious, family friendly meal plan! There is a heat wave coming through my neck of the woods this coming week! Are you also preparing for the heat? This is why I chose to use a rotisserie chicken to make things easy on us with some cool and cheap meals for the week. I’ve got some favorite salads and wraps and a black bean crunch wrap that just requires a quick toast up on the stovetop. I hope you’re staying cool! If you haven’t tried fried ice cream cake yet, this should be the week to stash one in the freezer to munch on each night after dinner!
I was just reading that a quarter of Americans are skipping meals due to inflation and 80% of Americans have seen a notable increase in grocery costs. It seriously sucks, and it’s not getting any easier. I’ve been hacking my grocery budget for years, and unfortunately, one thing I do know, is that the grocery stores aren’t planning to help us out, and neither is the government. This one’s on us.
I do have some amazing news for you, though. I’ve been working on taking all of my knowledge that continues to save my family $225 or more each month and turning it into a system that literally anyone can implement. So if you’re ready to take it upon yourself to make a change, fight inflation, and stop overspending, click here to learn more. What to Expect:
Welcome to our family friendly meal plan! As a household of two parents and three growing boys, meal planning isn’t just helpful; it’s essential! I’ve tailored this plan to accommodate the needs of a family of five, drawing from personal experience. Meal planning is a cornerstone of our routine for three key reasons.
- #1: Firstly, it significantly reduces stress by eliminating the daily dinner dilemma—we always know what’s on the menu, and all the ingredients are ready and waiting.
- #2: It’s a budget-friendly approach, cutting down on takeout expenses and impromptu grocery runs.
- #3: It helps minimize food waste by ensuring we use what we have and plan meals around existing ingredients.

What’s Included in Each Family Friendly Meal Plan:
Each weekly meal plan includes dinners for 6 out of 7 days (one day is for leftovers) and 2 breakfast options and a sweet treat to try. I don’t include a lot of breakfast and lunch options because we rely heavily one “One Month in One Day Meal Prep For Busy Parents” method and I prep all of those once a month! (find out how we do it here)
This Weeks Meals:
Monday: Pesto Chicken Parm
Tuesday: Cobb Salad
Wednesday: Southwest Rotisserie Chicken wrap
Thursday: Rotisserie Chicken Caesar
Friday: Black Bean Crunch Wraps
Saturday/Sunday (pick one day for leftovers): Greek Chicken Skewers With Garlic Rice
Breakfast Options: Carrot Cake Overnight Oats and/or Breakfast Banana Splits
Dessert: Fried Ice Cream Cake
Monday: This Pesto Chicken Parm is brand new to the blog and it’s sure to become a favorite in your house! It does require the oven, so I’m sneaking it in before the heat hits on Tuesday.
Tuesday: This Cobb Salad tends to make an appearance a few times each Spring and Summer because it always makes everyone happy! There is something for everyone and it’s a no-cook meal!
Wednesday: These Southwest Rotisserie Chicken Wraps are so simple and so delicious, especially on a hot day!
Thursday: You can do an easy Rotisserie Chicken Caesar or kick it up a notch and maybe use some leftover wraps from the Southwest wraps to make chicken Caesar Wraps, this is one of my kids absolute favorites!
Friday: Black Bean Crunch Wraps are one of the easiest ways to go meatless without feeling like you’re going meatless. Plus you feel like you got fast food!
Saturday or Sunday (one night is leftovers): Hopefully the heat cooled down but even if it didn’t these Greek Chicken Skewers are made on the grill so they won’t add any heat to the house.
For Breakfast:
Breakfast Banana Splits are always on my mind as a quick, no cook breakfast option!
You can make these Carrot Cake Overnight Oats with your leftover banana split yogurt, and you’ll be super efficient with your ingredients this week!
