chocolate covered strawberries on a marble platter with a white chocolate drizzle

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to indulge in sweet, decadent treats, and what better way to celebrate than with homemade a chocolate covered strawberries Valentine recipe? While these delicious berries make a romantic gift for your significant other, they are also a fantastic activity to do with kids if you’re celebrating with them! Making chocolate-dipped strawberries at home is not only fun but also way more affordable than buying them from the store—giving you more strawberries for a fraction of the cost!

Why Make Chocolate Covered Strawberries at Home?

  • Save Money: Grocery store chocolate strawberries are pricey, but making them yourself allows you to enjoy the same luxurious treat without breaking the bank.
  • More Customization: You can use your favorite chocolate, add creative toppings, and make them exactly how you like.
  • Fun for Kids: If you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day as a family, kids will love dipping and decorating their own strawberries!
  • Perfect for Any Occasion: Whether for a romantic evening, a fun kids’ activity, or just because, these homemade chocolate strawberries are always a hit.

Easy Homemade Chocolate Covered Strawberries Valentine Recipe

Servings: 12 strawberries
Cook Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1 package fresh strawberries (about 12)
  • 1 container chocolate melting wafers (or regular chocolate chips with ½ teaspoon coconut oil)
  • 1 bag white chocolate candy melts

Instructions:

  1. Prep the strawberries: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly, holding them by the stem.
  2. Melt the chocolate: Microwave the chocolate melting wafers (or regular chocolate chips with coconut oil) in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
  3. Dip the strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds of the berry. Lay it on the parchment paper.
  4. Refrigerate: Chill the strawberries in the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes until the chocolate sets.
  5. Melt the white chocolate: In a separate bowl, microwave about ¼ cup of white chocolate candy melts, stirring until smooth.
  6. Drizzle the white chocolate: Use a fork to drizzle white chocolate over the set strawberries in elegant lines.
  7. Optional Decorations: Try dipping strawberries in white chocolate first, then drizzling with milk or dark chocolate. Add festive sprinkles for extra flair!
  8. Serve & Enjoy! Once the chocolate has set, your homemade chocolate-covered strawberries are ready to be devoured.

Budget-Friendly Tips:

  • Use What You Have: Regular chocolate chips work just as well as melting wafers—just add a little coconut oil for a smoother consistency.
  • Get Creative with Decorations: Skip expensive toppings and use festive sprinkles or crushed nuts for a fun, budget-friendly twist.
  • Make a Big Batch: Homemade chocolate strawberries store well in the fridge for up to 24 hours, so make extra to share!

Whether you’re planning a romantic evening or a fun family activity, this homemade chocolate covered strawberry Valentine recipe is the perfect treat for Valentine’s Day—or any day! Give them a try and indulge in luxurious chocolatey goodness without spending an arm and a leg!

Description

These homemade chocolate-covered strawberries are a delicious and elegant treat, perfect for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion, made with rich chocolate and a touch of white chocolate drizzle.

Ingredients

  • 1 package fresh strawberries (about 12)
  • 1 container chocolate melting wafers (or regular chocolate chips with 1/2 teaspoon coconut oil)
  • 1 bag white chocolate candy melts

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Wash and dry the strawberries thoroughly, holding them by the stem to keep them clean and dry.
  3. Melt the chocolate: Microwave the chocolate melting wafers (or regular chocolate chips) according to package instructions. Start with the milk or dark chocolate, following the directions, typically 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between.
  4. Dip the strawberries: Hold each strawberry by the stem and dip it into the melted chocolate, covering about two-thirds of the berry. Gently lay it on its side on the parchment paper.
  5. Refrigerate: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for 10-20 minutes, allowing the chocolate to set completely.
  6. Melt the white chocolate: In a separate bowl, microwave about ¼ cup of white chocolate candy melts according to package instructions. Stir until smooth and fully melted.
  7. Drizzle the white chocolate: Use a fork to drizzle the melted white chocolate over the set strawberries in elegant lines.
  8. Optional variations: For extra flair, dip the strawberries in white chocolate first and drizzle with milk or dark chocolate. Or, top with sprinkles for a fun decoration.
  9. Serve and enjoy: Once the drizzle has set, your chocolate-dipped strawberries are ready to serve. Enjoy!

Notes

Budget-Friendly Tips:
  • Use what you have: If you don’t have melting wafers, regular chocolate chips work just fine—just add a little coconut oil to make it smooth.
  • Decorate with sprinkles: Instead of a drizzle, top the strawberries with festive sprinkles to add color and texture without extra effort.
  • Make ahead: These strawberries can be stored in the fridge for a few days, making them a perfect treat to prepare in advance.
