These Chicken Fajita Wraps Had My Family Cheering for MORE!

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe·Leave a Review

Seriously, my husband probably would have liked the pan, if I let him. I’ve always served fajitas separate as a build your own type of thing. But these Chicken Fajita Wraps take it to a new level! Super crispy on the outside, they are bursting with flavor and less work at the table!

I’m Definitely Wondering Why I Didn’t Make These Sooner

I question, why I’ve been placing chicken and toppings separate instead of making fajitas into super-charged burritos. Chicken fajita wraps are an all in one way to carry the chicken, peppers, cheese, and sour cream that make fajitas what they are.

The Key To Chicken Fajita Success

Don’t be lazy about this. You have to crisp up the tortillas once everything is wrapped up. The crispy tortilla is everything and elevates the entire dish. I ran my knife down the crispy tortillas right after I made them just like they do on TikTok and I know I’d made it!

How Much Do Chicken Fajita Wraps Cost?

If there aren’t already enough reasons to give these delicious chicken fajita wraps a try, they are so inexpensive! Even after buying the list below I had tons of leftovers too, wraps, cheese and sour cream were still leftover to be used in another meal.

Of course, your miles may vary but this is how much everything cost at my local grocery store Hannaford in New Hampshire (this is considered the more expensive grocery store too!)

Ingredients with prices:

  • Grande Burrito Tortillas – $3.49
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese 8oz – $2.19
  • 1lb Chicken Breast – $2.49
  • 2 Peppers – $2.66
  • Yellow Onion – $.35
  • Sour Cream – $1.99
  • Total: $13.17
  • Pantry items: olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, sugar, corn starch, chili powder

Instructions

1. Prepare the Homemade Fajita Seasoning:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the salt, paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin, and sugar. Set aside.

2. Cook the Chicken:

  • Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the cooking oil.
  • Add the chicken strips to the skillet and sprinkle with about half of the homemade fajita seasoning mix.
  • Cook the chicken until it’s no longer pink in the center, stirring occasionally. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the cooked chicken from the skillet and set it aside.

3. Sauté the Vegetables:

  • In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed and add the thinly sliced onions and bell peppers.
  • Sprinkle the remaining homemade fajita seasoning mix over the vegetables.
  • Sauté the vegetables until they are tender and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  • Sprinkle cornstarch over the vegetables and stir well. This will help thicken the sauce.

4. Assemble the Chicken Fajita Wraps:

  • Warm the large burrito-sized tortillas.
  • On each tortilla, spread a generous amount of sour cream.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the sour cream.
  • Add a portion of the cooked chicken and sautéed vegetables on top.
  • Fold in the sides of the tortilla and then roll it up, making a burrito.

5. Crisp Up the Wraps:

  • Heat a clean skillet over medium-low heat with a teaspoon of olive oil.
  • Place the wrapped burritos seam-side down in the skillet.
  • Cook them for a few minutes on each side until they become crispy and golden brown.

6. Serve and Enjoy:

  • Slice the Chicken Fajita Wraps in half diagonally, and serve them while they’re warm.
  • Optionally, serve with your favorite dipping sauces or salsa.
  • Prep Time: 10
  • Cook Time: 30
