How to Make French Onion Rice
The French Onion rice recipe is only 4 ingredients, easy enough for a weeknight but fancy enough for a crowd. Oh yes, and pantry friendly too! So that checks all the boxes right?
My husband absolutely loved this when I made it for him. You only need rice, butter, Lipton onion soup mix, and a beef bouillon cube! And I say Lipton onion soup mix to be specific on the little packet you’re looking for but they do sell an alternative. At Aldi and the Dollar Tree that is just as delicious and a little less expensive!

French Onion Soup Rice
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice uncooked
- 1/2 cup butter cubed
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1 cube Beef Bouillon
- 1 packet onion soup mix
Instructions
- In a sauce pot, combine all of the ingredients.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. The reduce the heat to low and cover.
- Allow the rice to simmer for 25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the liquid has been absorbed.
- Remove the pot from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Fluff with a fork and enjoy!
