Chocolate covered strawberries are classic — but these chocolate covered deviled strawberries are better.

If you’re looking for a Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day dessert that feels elevated, looks stunning on a serving platter, and makes people stop mid-bite to ask “what is this?” — this is it.

These chocolate pistachio deviled strawberries take everything you love about chocolate-dipped strawberries and upgrade them with a creamy cheesecake-style filling and a crunchy pistachio coating. They’re elegant, fun, and surprisingly easy to make, which makes them perfect for entertaining.

Why Deviled Strawberries Are the Dessert Upgrade You Didn’t Know You Needed

Think of these like the dessert version of deviled eggs — but prettier.

Instead of just dipping strawberries in chocolate and calling it a day, we:

  • Hollow out the center
  • Coat the outside in rich melted chocolate
  • Roll them in finely chopped pistachios
  • Pipe in a light, whipped cream cheese filling

The result is a dessert that looks bakery-level, tastes indulgent, and feels special enough for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, bridal showers, or a girls’ night in.

The Perfect Tool For Filling

I use this piping tool to make the most perfect swirl on my strawberries! It’s usually under $12 and makes all the difference!

Get it here!

Better Than Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Traditional chocolate covered strawberries are delicious — but they’re one-note. These chocolate covered deviled strawberries add:

  • Creaminess from the filling
  • Crunch from the pistachios
  • Balance from the tangy cream cheese

They’re richer, more interesting, and much more memorable — which is exactly what you want when you’re entertaining.

How to Make Chocolate Pistachio Deviled Strawberries

Step 1: Prep the Strawberries

Remove the stems and slice the strawberries in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or teaspoon, carefully carve out a small hole in the center of each half. It should resemble a hard-boiled egg with the yolk removed.

Set the strawberries aside.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate

Add ½ cup chocolate chips to a microwave-safe bowl. I like using Hu or Enjoy Life brands.

Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15–30 second intervals, stirring each time, until the chocolate is almost melted. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Prepare the Pistachios

Finely chop about ⅓ cup salted pistachios. You want them very fine — almost dusty — but with a few small chunks left for texture.

Step 4: Dip & Coat

Dip each strawberry half into the melted chocolate, then immediately into the chopped pistachios. Place them on a parchment-lined plate or tray and transfer to the refrigerator to set.

Step 5: Make the Cream Cheese Filling

While the strawberries chill, add the following to a mixing bowl:

  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, room temperature (Tillamook is my favorite)
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅙ cup full-fat Greek yogurt

Using a mixer, beat on high until light, smooth, and whipped.

Transfer the filling to a piping bag or cookie press fitted with a decorative tip.

Step 6: Fill the Strawberries

Remove the strawberries from the refrigerator. Pipe the cream cheese filling into the hollowed centers, making it slightly mounded and pretty.

Sprinkle with the remaining pistachio “dust” for the final touch.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries
  • ½ cup chocolate chips
  • ⅓ cup salted pistachios, finely chopped

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz full-fat cream cheese, room temperature
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ⅙ cup full-fat Greek yogurt

Make-Ahead & Entertaining Tips

  • These deviled strawberries can be made several hours ahead and stored in the refrigerator until serving.
  • For best texture, serve the same day.
  • They’re perfect for platters because they don’t require utensils and look stunning arranged in rows or circles.

Perfect for Valentine’s Day & Galentine’s Day

These chocolate covered deviled strawberries are romantic enough for Valentine’s Day, but fun and shareable enough for Galentine’s Day. They’re a great option if you want something that feels festive without baking an entire dessert.

They’re also a fantastic alternative if you’ve made chocolate dipped strawberries a hundred times and want something new — but not complicated.

Why These Always Impress

These strawberries hit that sweet spot entertainers love:

  • Familiar, but unexpected
  • Elegant, but not fussy
  • Easy to make, but looks like effort

If you’re looking for the best chocolate covered strawberry alternative, this is it.

Description

Chocolate covered strawberries, but make them better. These chocolate pistachio deviled strawberries are filled with a light, whipped cream cheese filling and finished with crunchy pistachios. Elegant, easy, and perfect for Valentine’s Day, Galentine’s Day, or entertaining.

Ingredients

  • 10-12 fresh strawberries, stems removed and sliced in half lengthwise

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (Hu or Enjoy Life recommended)

  • 1/3 cup salted pistachios, very finely chopped

  • 8 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese, softened to room temperature

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1/6 cup full-fat Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. Remove the stems from the strawberries and slice them in half lengthwise. Using a melon baller or teaspoon, carefully carve out a small hole in the center of each strawberry half so it resembles a hard-boiled egg with the yolk removed. Set aside.

  2. Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. Continue microwaving in 15–30 second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is almost melted. Stir until smooth and creamy.

  3. Finely chop the pistachios until mostly powdery with a few small chunks remaining.

  4. Dip each strawberry half into the melted chocolate, then immediately into the chopped pistachios. Place on a parchment-lined tray and refrigerate until the chocolate is set, about 15–20 minutes.

  5. While the strawberries chill, make the filling. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and Greek yogurt on high speed until smooth, light, and whipped.

  6. Transfer the filling to a piping bag or cookie press fitted with a decorative tip.

  7. Remove the strawberries from the refrigerator and pipe the cream cheese filling into the hollowed centers.

  8. Sprinkle with remaining pistachio dust. Serve chilled.

  • Prep Time: 30
  • Chill Time: 20
