14 Non-Traditional Holiday Charcuterie Board Ideas

Creating a charcuterie board doesn’t have to be complicated—use what you already have, shop the sales, and focus on colors and textures. These charcuterie board ideas are simple, festive, and guaranteed to impress without breaking the bank.

snowman dip board

Snowman Dip Board

Snowman Cheese Board

This festive cheese board looks like a lot, but it’s actually super simple to put together—and you can totally swap in what you have on hand!

Start by filling a small bowl with red and green M&M’s (or any holiday candy you like).

For the snowmen: stack 3 mini mozzarella balls on a toothpick. Wrap a thin red pepper slice around as a scarf, add a tiny carrot slice for the nose, and top it off with a black olive “hat.”

For the dip: scoop your favorite white dip into a bowl (I love Cabot garden vegetable). Decorate it with olives for eyes, tiny olive pieces for a smile, and a carrot nose—it’s a fun way to re-use the same veggies in different ways! Add carrot sticks around the bowl for dipping.

For Grinch hats: layer a green grape, banana slice, strawberry, and a mini marshmallow on top—super cute and kid-friendly.

From there, fill in the board with whatever you have: pretzel sticks, salami, crackers, raspberries, broccoli, or any other favorites. It’s flexible, budget-friendly, and guaranteed to be the star of your holiday table.

Christmas Tree Made With Cheese and Grapes

This one only takes a few ingredients, but it stuns every time. Bonus—it’s totally kid-approved!

Start with a small piece of celery as the tree trunk. Then layer upwards to form your tree:

  • Green grapes
  • Sliced cheddar cheese
  • Red grapes
  • Sliced colby jack
  • More green and red grapes
  • More cheese

Top it all off with a few grapes and a cheese star (just cut it out with a small cookie cutter or a knife).

For serving, I grabbed the cutest little sleigh from Dollar Tree and filled it with toothpicks so guests can help themselves. It’s festive, budget-friendly, and one of those snack boards that looks way fancier than it is.

charcuterie in a 9x13

Travel Charcuterie

If you’ve ever tried to balance a charcuterie board on a cutting board and carry it to an event, you know it’s a dangerous endeavor (been there, almost lost the whole thing 😅). So instead, I switched things up and built mine right in a 9×13 pan—it can’t slide anywhere! Honestly, why didn’t we think of this years ago?

Here’s what I added to my festive board:

  • A triangle of brie
  • Green grapes
  • Raspberries
  • Marcona almonds
  • Salami
  • Sliced vanilla blue cheese goat cheese
  • Pita crackers
  • Raspberry jam
  • Olives

To finish it off, I tucked in a few sprigs of fresh rosemary, which makes it look extra festive and brings such a lovely holiday vibe. Easy to transport, beautiful to look at, and delicious to eat!

charcuterie cups

Charcuterie Cups

When you’re looking for a fun, creative, and easy way to serve a charcuterie-style spread at your next gathering, charcuterie cups are the way to go. These individual charcuterie cups are not only an adorable presentation idea but also a convenient and hygienic way to serve appetizers to guests. Whether you’re hosting a party, a family dinner, or a special celebration, these personalized servings allow your guests to enjoy a variety of delicious snacks without the need for communal dipping or sharing from a large platter.

red and green charcuterie

Gluten Free Red and Green Charcuterie

This board is all about that holiday color scheme—red, white, and green—and bonus: it’s completely gluten-free! I always like to pick a “centerpiece” for my boards, and here I went with creamy Boursin cheese. I tucked a little sprig of rosemary into the middle for that extra festive touch.

For the white elements, I used sliced cheddar, brie, and even found the cutest Christmas tree–shaped cheese at Aldi (they always have fun holiday finds!). Rice crackers round out the gluten-free crunch.

For the red pieces, I added sliced truffle salami (another Aldi holiday gem), red grapes, raspberries, and strawberries sliced in half—with the stems still on, since they add that natural pop of green. A little prosciutto also sneaks in some beautiful color and texture.

For the greens, I kept it simple with green olives and the strawberry tops. And because it’s the holidays, I couldn’t resist adding a few squares of chocolate. Why not, right? 🎄✨

This one stuns on the table, feels super festive, and no one will even notice it’s gluten-free!

Green and White Christmas Tree Board

This one is so fun and festive, and it’s budget-friendly too! I love playing with color on cheese boards, and here I leaned into all the green for that fresh Christmas tree vibe.

Start with a wooden board and lay down a few dill sprigs—this makes it look like a real little tree. For the trunk, I always use a simple slice of celery (easy and effective!). Then layer in squares of cheddar, sliced green grapes, green apple slices, and kiwi rounds to build out your “branches.”

For the star, I cut pineapple pieces with a small cookie cutter, then added one right on top for the perfect finishing touch.

It’s family-friendly, costs very little to put together, and still feels so festive. Perfect for a holiday gathering or even just a fun afternoon snack board with the kids! 🎄💚

fruit and chocolate board

Fruit and Chocolate Board

If you’re looking for a fun, festive, and easy-to-make treat that will impress your guests, a fruit and chocolate charcuterie board is the way to go. This dessert charcuterie board combines fresh organic fruits with indulgent chocolate for a visually stunning and mouth-watering experience. Whether you’re planning for a holiday, birthday, or a special occasion, this fruit board will be the highlight of the event. It’s also a great way to get creative in the kitchen and impress your guests with an eye-catching dessert that’s as delicious as it is beautiful.

pepperoni and cheese board

Pepperoni, Cheese, and Crackers

This one is extra budget friendly and simple. Sometimes we don’t need to over complicate it. Simply place sliced cheddar cheese, pepperoni and your favorite crackers on a board and everyone will enjoy it!

charcuterie table

Charcuterie Table

If you’ve never made a full charcuterie table before, let me tell you—it’s stunning! And the best part is, it’s easier than it looks. I like to roll out some plain craft paper and start building right on top. It’s fun, low-stress, and makes cleanup a breeze.

For this one, I placed a small board in the front as an anchor and added some mini pumpkins from Dollar Tree around the edges (such a cute touch!). The real trick to a charcuterie table is levels and textures. I sliced oranges and even cut a pomegranate in half to scatter around for color and dimension.

Then I started layering the cheeses—brie, cheddar, a blueberry goat cheese log, manchego, and a soft, spreadable Alouette-style cheese. For meats, I went with salami and prosciutto. In small bowls, I added fun little extras: tiny pickles, sliced bread, yogurt-covered raisins, stuffed olives, and chocolate-filled wafer rolls (those clear bowls really make them pop!).

Once the “big pieces” were down, I filled in the gaps with lots of variety—crackers (different shapes and kinds look best), pistachios and Marcona almonds, grapes, grape tomatoes, pretzels, and even popcorn. The goal is always to make the table look abundant and inviting.

And if you have them on hand, shaped chocolates or truffles are a beautiful final touch. The best part? You can use whatever you have or whatever’s on sale—your table will still look amazing.

cheese pumpkin

Cheese Pumpkin

I agree, that is a bit of a dramatic headline but it’s true! I brought this cream cheese pumpkin ball to a birthday party this fall and people couldn’t stop commenting on it! It’s adorable and sure to cause a commotion at your next event.
