New Chicken Sandwich Idea: BBQ Ranch Chicken Sandwich

Jump to Recipe·Print Recipe·Leave a Review

As I flung open my cabinets looking for some honey for my tea, my eyes caught a glance at a section of the kitchen that I often overlook. In my cabinet beside my salt, pepper, honey, and steak seasonings sit my seasoning packets. Think Lipton Soup Mix, Au Jus Gravy, and Hidden Valley Ranch Mix. Yes, I had all three and then some. While I shop my panty each week (using my free “Stick to Your Budget Checklist“) , this section often goes overlooked and I thought it might be a good idea to give it some attention. And so, the BBQ Ranch Chicken Sandwich was born!

The BBQ Ranch Chicken Sandwich is So Simple!

I’m a sucker for a simple recipe that utilizes items I already have on hand. I landed on this sandwich because I was able to not only use the ranch seasoning packet but also a leftover bottle of BBQ sauce from my fridge. Mix both together in a bag or bowl and marinate for 20 minutes. Then grill the chicken to 165 degrees and place on a bun with your favorite toppings. Here are some topping ideas: cheese, lettuce, tomato, avocado, and/or mayo.

More Seasoning Packet Ideas

Here you can find 7 Packet Friendly recipes to use with all of your seasoning packets. Challenging myself to eat 3 meals based on these packets was super fun! When I follow my “Stick To Your Budget Checklist” I am able to stick to my budget, reduce food waste, stock up for the future, and have a ton of fun cooking with what I have like I’m on an episode of “Chopped” each week. If you are looking for a way to keep your spending down while still having fun in the kitchen, check our my “Stick to Your Budget Checklist” today!

    Instructions

    • Prepare the Marinade:

      • In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of BBQ sauce with 1 packet of ranch seasoning. Mix well until fully combined.
    • Marinate the Chicken:

      • Place the 4 thinly sliced chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish.
      • Pour the BBQ ranch mixture over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
      • Seal the bag or cover the dish, and let the chicken marinate in the refrigerator for at least 20 minutes.
    • Grill the Chicken:

      • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
      • Once the grill is hot, remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing any excess marinade to drip off.
      • Place the chicken breasts on the grill.
      • Grill the chicken for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) and the chicken is fully cooked. Flip the chicken breasts once during grilling.
    • Assemble the Sandwiches:

      • While the chicken is grilling, prepare your buns and desired toppings.
      • Once the chicken is done, remove it from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
      • Place each grilled chicken breast on a bun.
      • Add your favorite toppings such as cheese, tomato, lettuce, bacon, avocado, and mayo.
    • Serve and Enjoy:

      • Serve the BBQ Ranch Chicken Sandwiches immediately, enjoying the flavorful combination of BBQ and ranch with your favorite toppings.

    Notes

    • For an extra layer of flavor, you can toast the buns on the grill for a minute or two before assembling the sandwiches.
    • Feel free to customize the toppings to suit your taste preferences.
