- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small head of cabbage (about 1 lb), chopped (or one bag of “angel hair cabbage”)
- 1 cup instant rice
- 1 (14.5 oz) can diced fire-roasted tomatoes (or regular diced tomatoes)
- 1 (28 oz) jar tomato sauce (regular or tomato basil)
- 2 ½ cups water
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Brown the Ground Turkey: In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground turkey until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a meat masher. Add the diced onion and minced garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Set aside.
- Prepare the Casserole: In your slow cooker, add the chopped cabbage, instant rice, fire-roasted tomatoes, tomato sauce, and water. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Stir everything together.
- Combine the Meat: Add the cooked ground turkey, onions, and garlic mixture to the slow cooker. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Cook: Cover and cook on high for 4 hours, until the cabbage is tender and the flavors have melded together.
- Serve: After 4 hours, give the casserole a good stir and serve hot.
