Description

When fall arrives, there’s nothing like a steaming bowl of homemade chili to bring warmth and comfort. This hearty chili recipe combines ground turkey with kidney beans, tomatoes, and a blend of spices to create a delightful meal perfect for those chilly autumn nights.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • Half an onion, diced
  • 1 pound of Taco turkey (you can find the fiesta brand at Walmart or use regular turkey and taco seasoning)
  • 1 can of kidney beans, drained
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 can of stewed tomatoes
  • 1 can of tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of chili powder (or more to taste)
  • 1/2 tablespoon of garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Heat 1–2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add 1 diced onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes, until soft and translucent.

  2. Add 1 lb ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.

  3. Stir in 1 drained can of kidney beans, 1.5 cups water, 1 can stewed tomatoes, and 1 8-oz can of tomato sauce.

  4. Season with 1 tablespoon chili powder and 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder. Mix well.

  5. Bring the chili to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 15 minutes to let all the flavors meld.

  6. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed, then serve hot.
