Why Choose Pumpkin Shaped Bread?

Pumpkin Shaped Bread Rolls are more than just a visual delight; they’re a flavorful addition to any meal. The sweet and savory taste of these rolls pairs perfectly with soups, stews, or as a unique side for your Thanksgiving feast. Plus, their pumpkin shape adds a touch of whimsy to your dining experience.

I made these pumpkin shaped bread rolls when I made a $30 thanksgiving because they are such a special treat that costs hardly anything extra to make. They mostly require your love and attention. So, if you’re looking for something to impress friends and family without spending a ton of money, these are for you!

Recommended Kitchen Gear

To make these, there are a few things that will help the home chef succeed.

This large silicone baking mat is a go to for all my bread baking and pie baking needs. You can grab one here!

I absolutely love my bench scraper for baking bread and diving up portion such as these rolls. You can get one here!

This silicone brush is prefect for brushing on butter on these rolls. It’s also perfect for pies, pastries, and even bbq sauce on chicken!

I love these Cuisinart baking sheets, I’ve had them for years and they never disappoint.

Silicon baking mats are part of my kitchen routine, they keep my baking sheets clean and are amazingly non-stick!

Kitchen string is an absolute necessity for these and if you’d like to order some today, grab some here!

I love my Kitchen Aid mixer. It’s definitely an investment but it has payed off big time over time for me. I’m always so happy when I don’t need to kneed dough by hand.

  • 2 teaspoons of softened butter

  1. In a mixing bowl of a mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine warm water, sugar, yeast, salt, and olive oil. If using active dry yeast, wait until it starts foaming.
  2. Gradually add 3 cups of flour and mix the dough. Continue adding 3 and 1/4 cups more until the dough comes away from the sides of the bowl.
  3. Knead the dough for 2-4 minutes until it’s smooth, either by hand or with a mixer.
  4. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover it, and allow it to rise until doubled in size (an hour or so).
  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into 12 equal portions. Set aside a small piece for the stems.
  6. Form each portion into a round roll and place them on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Take the small reserved piece and shape it into a rope. Cut it into 12 small sections, which will become the pumpkin stems.
  8. Cover the rolls and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  9. Cut 24 pieces of kitchen twine long enough to wrap around the pumpkin roll twice and place into a bowl with oil.
  10. Wrap each roll in a pice of string twice around and do this with two pieces of string creating 8 total loops around. This will make the rolls look like pumpkins.
  11. Preheat the oven to 375°F (or 400°F for a slightly browner crust) and bake the rolls for about 22-25 minutes, until they’re golden brown.
  12. Optionally, brush the rolls with melted butter for a shiny finish.
  13. Top the rolls with the stems and enjoy!
