Today, I’m excited to share with you a recipe that has become a staple in my home since 2020 – my favorite Protein Bagels Recipe.
What’s So Special?
What’s so special about them? Well, let me tell you. These aren’t your average bagels. Nope, not even close. These little beauties don’t include flour, making them a unique and nutritious twist on the classic favorite. Picture this: a warm, toasty bagel, fresh out of the oven, with all the flavor and chewiness you love, but with a wholesome protein boost that’ll keep you going all morning long. Sound good? Trust me, it tastes even better.
Perfecting the Bagel
Since discovering the base recipe, I’ve been on a mission to perfect it and explore different variations. And let me tell you, it’s been quite the journey. But after plenty of trial and error (and maybe a few burnt batches along the way), I’ve finally nailed it.
The Savory
First up, we have the savory Everything Bagels. These bad boys are packed with all the classic bagel flavors – sesame seeds, poppy seeds, garlic, onion – you name it. They’re the perfect canvas for your favorite breakfast sandwich, stacked high with eggs, bacon, avocado – you get the idea. One bite, and you’ll be hooked.
The Sweet
But wait, it gets even better. Enter stage right: the sweet Blueberry Bagels. Picture this: plump, juicy blueberries nestled in a soft, pillowy bagel, with just a hint of vanilla sweetness from the protein powder. They’re like a little slice of heaven in every bite. And when you toast them up and slather on some cream cheese? Well, let’s just say you’ll be in breakfast bliss.
Now, here’s the thing about these bagels – they must be toasted to achieve a bagel texture. Trust me, it’s worth it. And with their high egg content, they’re best kept in the fridge. But here’s the kicker – there’s a third option on the horizon: Chocolate Protein Bagels with chocolate chips. I haven’t tried them yet, but if you do, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
So, what are you waiting for? Grab your apron and join me as we dive into the wonderful world of homemade Protein Bagels. Let’s get baking!
