  • 1 whole onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp oregano
  • A sprinkle of red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 8 oz pasta (e.g., gemelli or broken lasagna noodles)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (undrained)
  • 1 cup pasta sauce
  • Auntie Nono’s everything seasoning (to taste) – or salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided
  • Optional: 1/3 cup ricotta cheese

Instructions

  1. Preparation:

    • Dice the onion.
    • Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cooking:

    • Add diced onion and ground beef to the skillet; cook until beef is fully cooked through.
    • Open cans and prepare spices while beef is cooking.
  3. Seasoning:

    • Drain grease from beef.
    • Add water, pasta, diced tomatoes, pasta sauce, garlic powder, dried basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, and Auntie Nono’s seasoning.
  4. Simmering:

    • Simmer on low heat for 10-25 minutes (gemelli will take longer but broken lasagna noodles will cook in 10 minutes), or until the pasta is fully cooked through.
  5. Cheese Addition:

    • Stir in 1 cup of mozzarella cheese.
    • Optional: Add ricotta cheese and mix.
  6. Final Touch:

    • Top with another cup of mozzarella cheese.
    • Serve and enjoy the quick and delicious one-pot lasagna!
